“Swinging with Elvis”
Upon joining “Murder and Merriment” in 2015, an interactive Murder Mystery Dinner Theater Company, one of my first roles was to portray Elvis Presley in “Murder at the Opry”. My job was to pretend to be him, recall his 1 failed appearances at the Grand Ol’ Opry in 1953, and only sing one song in the murder mystery that was built around the 1960’s Grand Ol’ Opry. We would perform that murder mystery a couple of times a year and every time we did my Elvis Presley imitation was very well received. People began telling me I should launch a solo Elvis Presley Tribute Show on top of the “Swinging with Sinatra” Show I had launched in 2019. I truly didn’t think it would work.
Finally, I was contacted by some folks in Southern Ohio who wanted to do a fundraiser for a food pantry. They wanted me to do a “Swinging with Sinatra” Show to help raise money for the food pantry. They had one request, that I would develop a full length Elvis Presley Tribute Show to combine with it. So that’s what I did! I launched the very first full length “Swinging with Elvis” Show June 13th 2020 to a sold out venue and the rest is history! Now I make well over 100 appearances a year as Elvis!
When you come to a “Swinging with Elvis” Show you’ll hear such classics as “Jailhouse Rock”, “Love Me Tender”, “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, “How Great Thou Art”, & many others! There is also a lot of humor built in to the shows, dancing, a spotlight on couples and reading their love stories aloud on the small questionnaires we distribute before the show, and other crowd interactive things! I also offer a Christmas version of the show featuring songs such as “Blue Christmas”, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”, “Silver Bells”, & many others!
I do Elvis by the decade with 3 costumes for the 3 decades he sang! We do a 1950’s outfit, 1960’s outfit, and the iconic white jumpsuit for the 1970’s! I even mix in a “Million Dollar Quartet” Tribute to Elvis’ friends Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, & Johnny Cash and tell their story from the night of December 4th 1956 (See separate tab for further information).
